Finding Balance: My Personal Reflection on Healing and Transformation

Updated: Feb 27

I wanted to take a moment to share a deeply personal journey that has unfolded over the past five weeks—a period rich with both daunting challenges and transformative rewards.

Approximately five weeks ago, I found myself grappling with a harsh bout of illness, combining the fatigue of COVID with the relentless ache of strep throat.

While the physical discomfort was undeniably harsh, the real battle was the profound impact this experience had on my nervous system.

I came to understand that when my nervous system is thrown off balance, I become utterly drained, devoid of the energy needed to engage meaningfully in any aspect of my life, leaving me feeling like a shadow of my former self.

In this moment of reckoning, I have prioritized restorative practices aimed at gently coaxing my nervous system back to a state of calm and balance, emerging from a prolonged state of fight or flight.

This journey has led me to make some pivotal life decisions.

After over 11 years immersed in the vibrant world of social media—used for both professional growth and personal connections—I have made the bold choice to log out of Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok for the remainder of 2025.

This decision isn’t made lightly; it springs from a deep commitment to honoring my mental, physical, and spiritual well-being in the most profound way possible.

I’ve realized that the essence of my ability to support others has shifted significantly; the once effortless ways I engaged now feel unsustainable for my well-being.

It has become abundantly clear that I must be more selective and mindful about how I allocate my energy moving forward.

Consequently, I will place social media on hold while still nurturing my presence on YouTube and my blog.

However, my approach this time will be infused with mindfulness and thoughtfulness, unlike before.

As I navigate this new path, I envision teaching Zoom classes and recording YouTube videos at a gentle pace that respects my healing nervous system.

I have come to appreciate the wisdom in the saying, "less is more," embracing the idea that slow and steady truly wins the race.

For far too long, I had attempted to engineer balance through rigid and exhausting methods.

Now, drawing from the treasured tools I’ve gleaned from my favorite resource list https://www.crystallefay.com/post/my-favorite-resource-list over the past six years, I envision myself as a boat gliding over calm waters.

I am learning to ebb and flow with the current rather than resist it, releasing the tension of control and trusting the sails of my spirit to guide me through life’s inevitable storms.

I can scarcely express the pride I feel for myself in making this significant transformation.

A few years ago, I was in a vastly different place; I would have fought relentlessly against my struggles, stubbornly refusing to surrender.

In those days, I lacked an understanding of the importance of recentering my mindset.

With time, I have come to realize that wrestling endlessly with my emotions and circumstances only kept me trapped in a cycle of heightened stress, ensnaring my body in a relentless fight or flight mode.

Instead, I’ve discovered that embracing a sense of surrender and cultivating unconditional self-love are the very things my nervous system craves in this moment.

This journey has illuminated the vital truth that healing often requires stepping back and prioritizing self-care.

There are times when simply showing up for myself means creating space for rest, reflection, and nurturing my spirit.

It is a delicate balance, but I am uncovering a profound strength that arises from tuning in to my authentic needs, leading me to be excited for each day as it unfolds.

Thank you for taking the time to read my reflections.

May your day be infused with blessings and peace!

I would be truly honored if you shared this blog with anyone you believe could draw inspiration for their own journey.
